Republic Day Speech in English

1. Hello everyone,

Today is a very special day for all of us Indians – it is our Republic Day! On this day, we remember and celebrate the momentous occasion when our Constitution came into effect, and India officially became a republic.

This day is also an opportunity for us to reflect on what it means to be Indian citizens, and to reaffirm our commitment to the values and principles that make our country great.

I am truly honored to have been given the opportunity to deliver this year’s Republic Day speech. It is a privilege and a responsibility that I do not take lightly. I would like to begin by thanking all of you for being here today. This occasion is one that is very close to my heart, as it is for all of us Indians.

As we gather here today, let us remember the words of our first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, who said: “At the stroke of the midnight hour, when the world sleeps, India will awake to life and freedom.” These words ring just as true today as they did nearly 60 years ago.

India is indeed awake – we are a nation on the rise, with limitless potential. We are young and dynamic, full of energy and hope for the future. And we are determined to build a better tomorrow not just for ourselves but also for generations to come.

On this special day, Republic Day, I extend my warm greetings wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Republic Day. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!

2. Today, on the occasion of the 74th Republic Day of India, I would like to share a few words with all of you.

The Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the governing document of our country. The date was chosen as it was on this day in 1930 that the Declaration of Indian Independence was made by the Indian National Congress. This year marks the 69th anniversary of this momentous occasion in our history.

The Republic Day is celebrated every year with great pomp and show across the length and breadth of our country. On this day, we remember and honour all those who fought for our freedom and contributed to the making of our Constitution. We also reaffirm our commitment to uphold and defend the values and principles enshrined therein.

The past few years have been challenging for our nation. We have faced many internal and external threats to our unity and integrity. But, we have emerged stronger from these challenges and are now well on course to realize our full potential as a prosperous and peaceful nation.

As we move forward into the future, let us resolve to work together towards building an even stronger and more vibrant Republic. Let us also rededicate ourselves to the task of ensuring that all its citizens enjoy equal rights and opportunities regardless of caste, creed or gender.

On this special day, Republic Day, I extend my warm greetings wishing everyone a happy and prosperous Republic Day. Jai Hind! Jai Bharat!
